India has slapped anti-dumping duty on import ofglass fibre from China to
protect domestic industry from cheaper shipments. The Finance Ministryin a
notification imposed an anti- dumping duty of up to 47.15 per cent of CIF value
of import of glass fibre from Chinafor five years to August 31, 2021.

India had first imposed anti-dumping duty on import of glass fibre from
Chinain 2013 and was in 2015 extended by one year to July 13,
2016. Directorate General of Anti Dumping (DGAD) has in a review in
July this year concluded that glass fibre have been exported to Indiafrom
Chinabelow its normal valuE) Fibre glass from Chinawas entering into “the
Indian market at dumped prices” and “the domestic industry has suffered
material injury.”Stating that there is likelihood of

**recurrence**of injury in case of cessation of anti-dumping duties, DGAD had recommended continuation of ad-valorem antidumping duty as a percentage of the CIF value of imports” from China Following DGAD recommendation, the Finance Ministryimposed an anti-dumping duty of 33.11 per cent of CIF value on import of glass fibre manufactured by Taishan Fibreglass Inc, 24.59 per cent on the same produced by Jushi Group Jiujiang Co Ltd and 20.46 per cent on that made by Chongquing Polycomp International Corporation (CPIC. An anti-dumping duty of 47.15 per cent was imposed on any other producer of glass fibre from China, the notification said.
“The anti-dumping duty imposed under this notification shall be effective
for a period of five years (unless

**revoked**,**amended**or**superseded**earlier),” it said. Glass fibre include glass roving, direct rovings, glass chopped strands and glass chopped strands mats. Glass fibre articles are essentially a reinforcement material.“Specifically excluded from the scope of the product under consideration are glass wool, fibre glass wool, fibre glass insulation in wool form, glass yarn, glass woven fabrics, glass fibre fabric, glass woven rovings, chopped strands meant for thermoplastic applications, micro glass fibre used in battery separator, surface mat/surface veil/tissue, wet chopped strands and Cemfil (alkali resistant glass fibre for concrete**reinforcement**),” it said.**1. **Directions (6 – 10): In the following questions two equations numbered I and II are given. Solve both the equations and give answer.**

a) If x < y

b) If x ≥ y

c) If x ≤ y

d) If x = y or no
relationship can be established

e) If x > y

**6. I.**2x

^{2}- 6√2 x + 8 = 0

**II.**2y

^{2 }- 7√2 y + 12 = 0

**7. I.**x

^{2}– 2x – 35 = 0

**II.**y

^{2}– 15y + 26 = 0

**8. I.**2x

^{2}+ 17x + 36 = 0

**II.**y

^{2}+ 21y +108 =0

**9. I.**x

^{2}– 7x -60 = 0

**II.**4y

^{2}-13y -12 = 0

**10. I.**x

^{2}+ 29x = -210

**II.**y

^{2}+ 28y = -195

**Solutions:**

**1. D)**The pattern is

9 + 9 × (10 – 2) = 81; 81 + 8 × (9 – 3) = 129; 129 + 7 × (8 – 4) = 157; 157
+ 6 × (7 – 5) = 169; 169 + 5 × (6 – 6) = 169

So, 169 should be in place of 165.

**2. C)**The pattern is

115 + (3 × 2) = 121; 121 + (3 × 3) = 130; 130 + (3 × 5) = 145; 145 + (3 ×
7) = 166;

So the missing term is 130 + (3 × 5) = 145

**3. C)**The pattern is

1

^{2}+ 2^{2}- 3^{2}+ 4^{2}= 12; 2^{2}+ 3^{2}- 4^{2}+ 5^{2}= 22; 3^{2}+ 4^{2}- 5^{2}+ 6^{2}= 36; 4^{2}+ 5^{2}- 6^{2}+ 7^{2}= 54
So, 36 should be in place of 46

**4.A)**The pattern is

382 – 357 = 25 = 5

^{2}; 357 – 308 = 49 = 7^{2}; 308 – 227 = 81 = 9^{2}= 227 – 106 = 11^{2}**5. A)**The pattern is

5

^{2}– 8^{2}= -39; 6^{2}– 9^{2}= -45; 7^{2}– 10^{2}= -51; 8^{2}– 11^{2}= -57; 9^{2}– 12^{2}= -63**6. D)**

I. 2x

^{2}- 6√2 x + 8 = 0
or, x

^{2}- 3√2 x + 4 = 0
or, x

^{2}– 2 √2 x - √2 x + 4 = 0
or, x (x - 2√2) -√2 (x -2√2) = 0

or, (x - √2) (x - 2√2)

x = √2, 2√2

II. 2y

^{2}- 7√2 y + 12 = 0
or, 2y

^{2}- 4√2y - 3√2y + 12 = 0
or, 2y (y - 2√2) - 3√2 (y - 2√2) = 0

or, (2y - 3√2) (y – 2√2) = 0

or, y = 3√2 / 2, 2√2

Hence no relation can be established.

**7. D)**

**I.**x

^{2}– 2x – 35 = 0

or, x

^{2}– 7x + 5x - 35 = 0
or, x (x - 7) + 5 (x - 7) = 0

or, (x - 7) (x + 5) = 0

x = 7, x = - 5

**II.**y

^{2}– 15y + 26 = 0

or, y

^{2 }– 13y – 2y +26 = 0
or, y (y - 13) - 2 (y - 13) = 0

or, (y - 2) (y - 13) = 0

y = 2, 13

Hence relationship can't be established.

**8. E)**

**I.**2x

^{2}+ 17x + 36 = 0

or, 2x

^{2}+ 9x + 8x + 36 = 0
or, 2x (x + 4) + 9 (x + 4) = 0

or, (x + 4) (2x + 9) = 0

x = -9/2, -4

**II.**y

^{2}+ 21y +108 =0

or, y

^{2}+ 12y + 9y +108 = 0
or, y (y + 12) + 9 (y + 12) = 0

or, (y + 9) (y + 12) = 0

y = -9, -12.

Hence x > y

**9. D)**

**I.**x

^{2}– 7x -60 = 0

or, x

^{2}– 12x + 5x – 60 = 0
or, x(x - 12) + 5 (x - 12) = 0

or, (x+5) (x-12) = 0

x = -5, 12

**II.**4y

^{2}-13y -12 = 0

or, 4y

^{2}– 16y + 3y – 12 = 0
or, 4y (y - 4) + 3(y - 4) = 0

or, (4y+3)(y-4) = 0

y = -3/4, 4

Hence relationship can't be established.

**10. C)**

**I.**x

^{2}+ 29x = -210

= x

^{2}+ 29x + 210 = 0
= (x +14) (x+15) = 0

x = -14, -15

**II.**y

^{2}+ 28y = -195

= y

^{2}+28y + 195 = 0
= (y+13) (y+15) = 0

y = -13, -15

Therefore, x ≤ y.

**Directions (6 – 10): Study the following information carefully and answer the given questions.**

E, F, G, H, I, J, K and L are eight family members sitting around a
circular table in a restaurant. All of them are facing the centre. Three of the
family members are engineering graduates and others are arts graduates. All the
eight family members are bankers. They are working in different banks Andra
Bank, Dena Bank, Syndicate Bank, Bank of India, Vijaya Bank, UCO Bank, Canara
Bank and Allahabad Bank, but not necessarily in the same order. There are two
married couples, three brothers, two daughters, one granddaughter and one
grandson in the group. Two of the female members in the group E and L get same
degree. They studied different degrees in colleges, they are B.com, BCA, M.com,
BE, MBA, ME and B.sc.

K, works in Andra Bank, is the head of the family, and is immediate
neighbour of L and H. The granddaughter J is sitting third to the left of K.
The grandmother of J is sitting on the immediate left of her. J is arts
graduate. I is sitting second to the right of his father K. He works in Vijaya
Bank, and studied B.sc. Only K’s daughter is sitting exactly between E and I.
She studied MBA and she works in UCO Bank. L works in Syndicate Bank and F
works in Bank of India. The son of L is sitting on the immediate left of his
father. His father works in Dena Bank. G works in UCO Bank and is sitting on
the immediate left of her mother. H, the husband of the one who works in
Syndicate Bank, studied ME and his mother studied BE. The one who works in Bank
of India sits second to the right of E, who is an immediate neighbour of the
one who works in UCO Bank and the Canara Bank. The one who works in Canara Bank
does not studied B.com and the one who works in Andra Bank does not studied
M.com or BCA.

d) Both Allahabad
Bank and Syndicate Bank

e) Canara Bank

**10. Which of the following is correctly matched?**

a) F – Bank of
India – M.com

b) I – Allahabad
Bank – B.sc

c) H – Dena Bank

d) G – UCO Bank –
ME

e) None of these

**Solutions:**

**1. D)**

**2. A)**Let the runs scored by P, Q, R, S and T be a, b, c, d and e

From given data,

a + b + c + d + e = 36 x 5 = 180

b + c = 107

e = a – 8; d = a – 3

now 3a – 11 + 107 = 180 => 3a = 84 => a = 28

Therefore, e's score = 28 – 8 = 20

**3. D)**D is father of A and grandfather of F. So, A is father of F.

Thus. D and A are the two fathers. C is the sister of F So. C is the
daughter of A.

Since there is only one mother, it is evident that E is the wife of A and
hence the mother of C and F.

So, B is brother of A There are three brothers. So. F is the brother of C.

Clearly, A is E's Husband.

**4. E)**After the rearrangement the digits as per the question, the number becomes as follows: 3 4 2 7 8 9 1 5

3rd to the left of the 7th from the left = 7 -3 = 4th from the left, ie 7th.

**5. A)**
