(Assuming that there has been no other change in family structure and all the people are alive). What is the difference in the age of the daughter and the daughter-in-law?

Required difference in the age of the daughter and the daughter-in-law
= 94 + 20 – 92 = 22

3. There are five boxes in a store. The weight of the first box is 200 kg. and the weight of second box is 20% higher than the weight of the third box whose weight is 25% higher than the first box. The fourth box of 350 kg. is 30% higher than the fifth box. The difference in average weight of the four heaviest boxes and the four lightest boxes is-

Solution:
Weight of 1st box = 200 kg.
Weight of 3rd box = 250 kg.
Weight of 2nd box = 300 kg.
Weight of 4th box = 350 kg.
Weight of 5th box = 500 kg.
Difference = (1400 – 1100)/4 = 75kg

4. Two vessels of 48 liter and 42 liter are filled with mixtures of milk and water, the proportion in the two vessel being respectively 13 : 7 and 18 : 17. If the contents of the two vessel be mixed and 20 liter of water be added to the whole, what will be the proportion of milk and water in the resulting mixture?

5. If the length of a rectangular field is increased by 20% and the breadth is reduced by 20%. The area of the rectangle will become 192 m2. What is the area of the original recntagle?

Solution:
According to the given information,
l × 120/100 × b × 80/100 = 192 =>  l × b = 200
Therefore, required area = A = l × b = 200
