1. A money lender lent out ₹ 20,000 in two parts, one at 10% interest and the other at 14% interest. If the total annual income on the amount is ₹2500, the money lent at 10% is?
a) ₹8500

Explanation: The effective interest obtained = 100 x 2500 /20000 = 12.5%
By the rule of allegations,

The ratio of the two parts is 3:5.
So money lent at 10% is 20000 x 3/8 = ₹7500
2. Evaluate 14*sin65*sec25+32*cos73*cosec17.
a) 46

Explanation: 14*sin65*sec25 + 32*cos73*cosec17 = 14*sin (90-25)*sec25+32*cos(90-17)*cosec17
=> 14*sin65*sec25+32*cos73*cosec17 = 14*cos25*sec25+32*sin17*cosec17
=> 14*sin65*sec25+32*cos73*cosec17 = 14*( cos25/ cos25)+32(sin17/ sin17)

3. Delhi and Chandigarh are 248 km apart. An express train leaves Delhi for Chandigarh at 6 pm and runs at an average speed of 60 km/hr. Another train leaves Chandigarh for Delhi at the same time and runs at an average speed of 64 km/hr. Where will the two trains meet?

Distance from Chandigarh to the meeting point = Speed*Time = 64*2 = 128 km
4. A and B can do a certain piece of work in 80/11 days. B worked for 7 days, then the remaining work is completed by A in 10 days. Find in how many days B can complete the whole work?

Explaantion:
Let A completes the work in x days.
B completes the work in y days.
B worked for 7 days then the remaining work is completed by A in 10 days.
(10/x) + (7/y) = 1 --- (1)
A and B can do a certain piece of work in 80/11 days.
(80/11)*(1/x + 1/y) = 1
1/x + 1/y = 11/80
1/x = 11/80 - 1/y
Putting 1/x in equation (1), we get
10(11/80 - 1/y) + 7/y = 1
11/8 - 10/y + 7/y = 1
3/y = 11/8 - 1 = 3/8
y = 8 days
5. The average age of 19 students in a class is 15 years. Out of these, the average age of 8 students is 15 years and that of another 10 students is 14 years. The age of the 19th student is ___.

What is the value of (16a + 15b)/(13a + 17b) ?

Explanation: Let the number of boys and the number of girls in class B are 5b and 6b respectively.

We are given,

By solving (1) and (2) we get b =5 and e = 8
Number of boys in class B =25
Number of girls in class D = Number of boys in class B = 25
In class D
Number of boys : Number of girls = 4 :5
Number of boys : 25 = 4 :5
Hence number of boys in class D =20.
