Solutions:
(1 – 5): Explanation:
Expenses of Daimler = 12 million
Expenses of Jaguar = 90% of 12 million = 10.8 million
Given that profit of Jaguar = 10.75% of its sales
Or, 10.75% of sales = profit = sales – expenses
Or, expenses of Jaguar = (100 – 10.75) = 89.25% of sales
Or, 10.8 million = 89.25% of sales
Or, sales of Jaguar = 10.8/89.25 × 100 = 12.1 million
Therefore, profit of Jaguar = sales – expenses = (12.1 – 10.8) = 1.3 million
Now, expenses of Daimler = 2.5 times of its profit
Or, profit of Daimler = 12/2.5 = 4.8 million
Or, profit = sales – expenses sales of Daimler = 4.8 + expenses = 4.8 + 12 = 16.8 million
Profit of Rover &Lanchester = profit of Daimler = 4.8 million
Also, sales of Land Rover = sales of Daimler = 16.8 million
Profit of Land Rover = 20% of its sales = 20% of 16.8 = 3.36 million
And sales of Rover &Lanchester = 1.5 times of its profit = (1.5 × 4.8) = 7.2 million.
On the basis of calculation,

1. A) Required % = Profit of Rover and Lanchester/Sales of Rover and Lanchester × 100 = 4.8/7.2 × 100 = 66.67%
2. C) Required % = Total profits of all four companies together/Total sales of four companies together × 100%
= (1.3 + 3.36 + 4.8 + 4.8)/(12.1 + 16.8 + 16.8 + 7.2) × 100 = 26.69%
3. C) Required % = 4.48/14.26 × 100 = 31.41%
4. B) Average sales = (12.1 + 16.8 + 16.8 + 7.2)/4 = 13.22
Average profit = (1.3 + 3.36 + 4.8 + 4.8)/4 = 3.56
Required ratio = 13.22/3.56 = 661 : 178
5. D) Observing the above explanation we can decide Rover &Lanchester has highest efficiency

6. C) From the pie chart of total number of students, we observe that number of students enrolled in Physics and Economics are 1900 and 2200, respectively.
From the pie chart of number of female students, we observe that number of female students enrolled in Physics and Economics are 1100 and 1300, respectively.
Number of male students enrolled in Physics and Economics will be (1900 1100) and (2200 1300), i.e., 800 and 900, respectively.
Ratio of number of male students that have enrolled for Physics and Economics courses = 800 : 900 = 8 : 9.
7. C) From the pie chart of total number of students, we observe that number of students enrolled in Sociology are 1600.
From the pie chart of number of female students, we observe that number of female students enrolled in Sociology and Economics are 800 and 1300, respectively.
Number of female students in Sociology and economics together = 800 + 1300 = 2100
Number of male students enrolled in Sociology will be (1600 – 800), i.e. 800.
Percentage by which number of female students in Sociology and economics together are more than the number of male students in Sociology
= (2100 – 800)/800 × 100 = 162.5
8. B) From the pie chart of total number of students, we observe that number of students enrolled in Anthropology, Sociology, Physics and Economics are 600, 1600, 1900 and 2200, respectively.
From the pie chart of number of female students, we observe that number of female students enrolled in Anthropology, Sociology, Physics and Economics are 400, 800, 1100 and 1300, respectively.
Number of male students enrolled in Anthropology, Sociology, Physics and Economics will be (600 400), (1600 800), (1900 1100) and (2200 1300), i.e., 200, 800, 800 and 900, respectively.
Number of male students = Total number of students Number of female students = 6300 3600 = 2700
Angle subtended by a sector in pie chart = (Value of the sector/Sum of all values) × 360 degrees
Angle subtended at centre by sector representing Sociology = (800/2700) x 360 degrees = 106.67 degrees.
Number of male students enrolled in Anthropology, Sociology, Physics and Economics will be (600 – 400), (1600 – 800), (1900 – 1100) and (2200 – 1300), i.e., 200, 800, 800 and 900, respectively.
Number of male students = Total number of students Number of female students = 6300 3600 = 2700
An acute angle is an angle that lies between 0 degrees and 90 degrees. The complete angle in pie chart is 360 degrees that represents sum of all values.
0 degree represents 0 value and 90 degrees represent one fourth of sum of all values.
One fourth of total number of male students = 2700/4 = 675
So, sectors that show values more than 0 and less than 675 will make an acute angle.
Clearly, only sector representing Anthropology (value is 200 which is less than 675) will form an acute angle.
Answer will be 1 sector.
10. D) From the pie chart of total number of students, we observe that number of students enrolled in Anthropology, Sociology, Physics and Economics are 600, 1600, 1900 and 2200, respectively.
Total number of students = 600 + 1600 + 1900 + 2200 = 6300
From the pie chart of number of female students, we observe that number of female students enrolled in Anthropology, Sociology,
Physics and Economics are 400, 800, 1100 and 1300, respectively.
Number of female students = 400 + 800 + 1100 + 1300 = 3600
Number of male students = Total number of students – Number of female students = 6300 – 3600 = 2700
Total number of students enrolled in Anthropology = 600
Ratio of total number of male students to total number of students enrolled in Anthropology = 2700:600 = 9:2.
