Solutions:
1. B) Amount received by each child = 102300/33 = 3100
If there were 100 children then the amount received by each child = 102300/100 = 1023
Hence the required difference = 3100 - 1023 = 2077
2. B) The total amount of work required = 8*10*16
Work completed in 5 days = 8*10*5
Work left = 8*10*11
Number of days remaining = 11
Number of students = 4
So, number of hours to be put in per day = 8*10*11/11*4 = 20 hours
So, number of additional hours that each of the remaining students should put in to complete the work on time = 20 - 10 = 10 hours.
3. A) Let the cost price be Rs 100.
A trader makes a profit of 40% => SP = 1.4*100 = Rs 140
This is the price arrived after giving a discount of 30%.
Therefore 30 = (MP – 140)/MP * 100
=> 0.3MP = MP – 140 => MP = 140/0.7 = Rs.200
Therefore the marked price of the article is Rs 200.
Now, to get a profit of 50%, the selling price of the article must be 1.5*100 = Rs 150.
Discount % = (200 – 150)/200 * 100 = 25%
4. A) 5 men, 8 women and 6 children can complete a piece of work in 25 days.
So, they finish 1/25th part of the work in a day.
So, the equations are 5m + 8w + 6c = x/25 …. (a)
2m + 5w + 3c = x/50 …. (b)
(a)-(b) => 3m + 3 w + 3c = x/25 - x/50=x/50
So, 3 men, 3 women and 3 children can finish the work in 50 days. Hence, 1 man, 1 woman and 1 child can finish the work in 150 days
5. A) Let the initial average weight be W.
Total weight of the class = 20W.
Total weight after the new boy joined = 20*(W-1/2) = 20W-10 kg
So a total of 10 kg weight is lost due to the new boy
So the weight of new man = (45-10) kg = 35kg
6. E) As we can see that number of candidates interviewed by firm D on Friday and Saturday = (15+20) = 35
And number of candidates interviewed by firm B on same days = 10+26 = 36
Hence, required ratio will be = (15+20) : (10+26) = 35 : 36
