a) 9 : 2
b) 11 : 3
c) 12 : 5
d) 13 : 5
e) 17 : 7

Solutions:
1. B) From the table,
Total watches sold in shop A = 750 + 850 + 680 = 2280
The Titan watches sold in shop A = 750
The required percentage = [(750/2280) × 100] = 32.89%
The 32.89% of total numbers of watches sold by shop A were Titan watches.
2. C) From the table,
 No. of watches sold Shop Name Titan Sonata Fastrack Total numbers of watches sold B 920 670 960 920 + 670 + 960 = 2550 D 710 780 820 710 + 780 + 820 = 2310
The required percentage = [(2310/2550) × 100]% = 90.58%
The total numbers of watches sold by shop D is 90.58% of total numbers watches sold by shop B.
3. C) From the table,
The numbers of Fastrack watches sold by shop A = 680
The numbers of Fastrack watches sold by shop C = 850
The increase in the sale of Fastrack watches = 850 – 680 = 170
The required percentage = [(170/680) × 100]% = 25%
The numbers of Fastrack watches sold by shop C is more than the numbers of Fastrack watches sold by shop A by 25%.
4. B) From the table,

The average numbers of watches were sold in shop B the highest.
5. D) From the table,
Total numbers of Sonata watches sold by all shops together = 850 + 670 + 470 + 780 = 2770
The numbers of Sonata watches sold by shop B = 670
The required percentage = [(670/2770) × 100]% = 24.18%
The numbers of Sonata watches were sold by Shop B is 24.18% of total numbers of Sonata watches sold by all shops together.
6. B)   7. C)   8. C)   9. B)   10. A)
11. E) Pipe P can fill the tank alone in 2 hours or 120 minutes. Pipes Q and R when open together can fill the tank in 40 minutes.
In a minute, pipe P can fill 1/120 of tank, and pipes Q and R together can fill 1/40 of tank.
Suppose pipes Q and R are opened for T minutes.
40/120 + T(1/40) = 1
T = 40 × 2/3 = 80/3 = 26 2/3
80/3 more minutes are required to fill tank completely.
12. C) For same interest, 20000 × [(1 + 10/100)4 – 1] = (P × 10 × 4)/100
9282 = 0.4P
P = 23205
Daniel should have invested Rs. 23205 in simple interest.
13. B) Suppose Honey drove for T km and Sunny drove for (480 – T) km.
Time taken by Honey = T/50 hours
Time taken by Sunny = (480 – T)/80 hours
Also, total time is 8 hours.
=> T/50 + (480 – T)/80 = 8 => 8T + 2400 – 5T = 3200
T = 800/3
Ratio of distance for which Honey and Sunny drove = (800/3) : (480 800/3) = 800 : 640 = 5 : 4
14. C) On understanding the question statement properly, we observe that we are given selling price and profit percentage and we need to find cost price. The information regarding marked price and discount is a distraction only.
We know, Selling Price = Cost Price × (1 + (Profit %)/100)
Cost price of frame = Rs. 576/(1 + (20/100)) = Rs. 576/1.2 = Rs. 480
15. D) Let the age of Sumona in a year ago be x years.
One year ago, Prapti was four times as old as her younger sister Sumona. So, the age of Prapti in one year ago = 3x years.
Five years hence, Prapti’s age will exceed her younger sister’s age by 8 years.
So, we can write now,
(3x + 1) + 5 = [(x + 1) + 5] + 8 3x + 6 = x + 14 3x x = 14 6 2x = 8
x = 8/2 = 4
So, the present age of Sumona = 4 + 1 = 5 years.
And the age of Prapti = (4 × 3) + 1 = 13 years.
The ratio of the present ages of Prapti and her younger sister = 13 : 5.
