Solutions:
1. A) Let number of girls be x. Each contributed = 8x 
Total contribution = 8x2= 6272 x2 = 784 x = 28
2. C) Distance covered by 1st train in 4 hours = 80*4 = 320 km 
Relative speed of 2nd train = 120-80 = 40 km 
It will overtake another train in 320/40 = 8 hours 
Distance between overtake point and station A = 8*120 = 960 km
3. D) One year interest = 7200/6 = 1200 
R = 10% so principle amount is 10000 
For same principle 2 year compound interest is {(8+8.64)*10000/} 100 = 1664
4. E) Rakhi’s present age = 5x years 
Sita’s present age = 7x years 
After 8 years, 
5x + 8 = 28 
=> 5x = 20 => x = 4
=> Sita’s age 5years ago = 7x – 5 = 7 × 4 – 5 = 23 years
5. C) Let X be the number.
Given: One-fourth of a number exceeds its one-seventh by 24
Hence (1/4)x = (1/7)x + 24 => x = 224
6. E) Let the first number be x and second number be y:
x – y = 18
3x – 18 = 4y
3(18+y) – 18 = 4y
54 + 3y – 18 = 4y
Y = 36
X = 36 + 18 = 54
Required sum = 54+36 = 90
7. C) The question is the case of compound interest.
From August to October there are two months.
Initial salary = Rs 6300
Time = 2
Rate of interest = 4%
1st year Interest = 252      
2nd year Interest = 252 + 252 + 10.08  = 514.08
Therefore Amount = 6300 + 514.08 = 6814.08
8. B) Total marks scored by Mandar = 80 + 95 + 74 + 65 + 72 = 386
Over all percentage = (386/500) × 100 =77.2
9. A) 2 day's work of A and B = (1/4 + 1/8) = 3/8
so 2*2 = 4 day's work of A and B = 2*(3/8) = 3/4
Rest of work = 1-(3/4) = 1/4
After 4 days completion, A will again come for completing the remaining work.
Hence, Time taken by A to complete 1/4th of the work = 1/4*4 = 1 day
So total work will be completed in 4+1 = 5 days
10. B) Ajay's score = 63 + 30 = 93
Rahul's score = 93 - 15 = 78
Sum of Manish's and Suresh's scores = 3 ×63 - 78 = 189 - 78 = 111
