Directions (11 – 15): What should come in place of question mark (?) in the following questions:
11. {(441)^1/2 × 207 × (343)^1/3} ÷ {(14)^2 × (529)^1/2} = ?

15. 35% of 520 – 16% of 650 – 684 ÷ 19 = x
a) 46
b) 25
c) 53
d) 42
e) 29

Solutions:
1. A)

2. C)

3. A)

4. E)

5. D)

6. C) Total distance covered by him = 200 + 300 + 400 = 900 km
Total time taken by him = 200/30 + 300/40 + 400/50 = 13300/600 h
Average Speed = 900/(13300/600) = 900 × 600/13300 = 40.60 km/h
7. B) Let the speed of the train = x km/h
Since the man can see the front of the train behind him, the train must be at a distance of 500 m from him. Now the train disappears in 5 minutes. The man can see upto 500 m in fog. He can see back side of the train. This means that the distance covered by train during these 5 minutes is 500 + 500 + 200 (front appears but rear disappears) = 1200 m
Since man is also running in the same direction; relative speed of the train and the man = x – 6
According to question-
X – 6 = 1.2/(5/60) = 1.2 × 60/5 = 14.4
X = 14.4 + 6 = 20.4 km/h
8. A) The no. Of units of work is same in each case
(A + B) × 10 = (2A + B/2) × 8
10A + 10B = 16A + 4B
6A = 6B
A = B
Thus, Efficiency of A = Efficiency of B
Now, the time A will take to complete the work alone = 10 × 2/1 = 20 days
9. A) Let’s assume he bought 1000 gm of certain goods. He cheats 10% at selling
Thus, he sells 900 gm quantity and proposes that he sold 1000 gm
Let CP of 1000 gm of this good is 1000 rs
MRP = 1000 × 150/100 = 1500
Now he sells goods for 1500 which cost him only 900
Discount should be given by him to sell this at CP = 1500 – 900 = 600
Discount % = 600 × 100/1500 = 40%
10. D) Upstream speed = (18 – R) km/h
Downstream speed = (18 + R) km/h
Let distance covered in one direction be x
x/(18 R) = 5 × x/(18 + R)
R = 12 km/h
11. B)   12. E)   13. A)   14. A)   15. D)
