**Solutions:**

**1. B)**Let length = 6x, breadth = 5x, height = 4x

According to the
question,

2(lb + bh + lh) = 66600

⇒ 2(6x × 5x + 5x × 4x + 6x × 4x) = 66600

⇒ 148x

^{2}= 66600 ⇒ x^{2}= 66600/148 = 450**∴**

**x = √450 = √(2 × 225) = 15√2**

**∴**

**Volume of the box = (l × b × h) = (90√2 × 75√2 × 60√2)**

= (2 × 90 × 75 × 60√2)
= (13500 × 60√2) = 810000√2 cm

^{3}**2. B)**The SI for first three years = (27000 × 10 × 3)/100 = 8100

∴ Amount after three
years 27000 + 8100 = ₹ 35100

Now, on this amount he pays
8% interest CI for 2 years

∴ Effective compound
interest% for 2 years (applying Net% Effect formula)

Net % effect = x + y +
(xy/100)

Here, x = y = 8%

Putting the values, we
get

Rate% of CI = 8 + 8 + (8 ×
8)/100 = 16.64%

∴ Amount = 16.64% of
35100 +
35100 = 5840.64 + 35100 =
40,940.64/-

**3. A)**Narendra`s share : Modi`s share

= [40000 × 1 + 50000 × 1
+ 60000 × 1 + 70000 × 1 ] : (85000 × 2) = 220000 : 170000 = 22 : 17

∴ Narendra's share =
22/39 × 97500 = 55000

**4. E)**Let the number of personnel in the beginning = 8K

And total number of
personnel at present = 7K

Let salary of an personnel
in the beginning = 5L

And salary of an
personnel at present = 6L

∴ Total salary in the
beginning = 8K × 5L = 40 KL

And total salary at
present = 7K × 6L = 42 KL

Required ratio = 40 KL :
42 KL = 20 : 21

Clearly, the salary will
be increased.

**5. E)**Let Armstrong's speed against the wind be x kmph and with the wind be y kmph.

Then, 21/x + 42/y = 13 …..
(i)

Again, 6/x + 14/y = 4 …..
(ii)

Now, suppose 1/x = u and
1/y = v

Then, 21u + 42v = 13

**...(iii)**
6u + 14v = 4

**...(iv)**
Solving eqn. (iii) and
(iv), we get

u = 1/3 = 1/x => x =
3kmph

then 6/3 + 14/y = 4 =>
y = 14/2 => y = 7kmph

Therefore, speed of
Armstrong when wind is not blowing = (3 + 7)/2 = 5kmph

**6. A)**Milk in the jar = 50 L

After first operation: 50
– 10 = 40 litres of milk

Now, 10 litres of water
is added to the milk.

Then, quantity of the new
mixture = 40 + 10 = 50 litres

Again, in new mixture the
ratio of milk to water = 40 : 10 = 4 : 1

Now, 15 litres mixture is
drawn out.

Then, quantity of milk in
15 litres of mixture = 15 × 4/5 = 12 litres

**∴**

**Remaining milk in jar = 40 – 12 = 28 litres**

**7. B)**Work done by Pakir = 1 – 21/27 = 6/27

**∴**

**(Avul + Jainal)**

**:**Pakir = 21/27 : 6/27 = 21 : 6

Now, Sum of the terms of
ratio = 21 + 6 = 27

∴ Pakir's share = 6/27
× 252 = ₹ 56

**8. B)**Let the cost price = 100/-

SP of 1

^{st}mobile at the profit of 20% = 120/-
Overall profit at 2%
profit = 102% of 200 = 204/-

**∴**

**SP of 2**

^{nd}mobile = 204 – 120 = 84/-

Difference between SP

_{1}& SP_{2}= 120 – 84 = 36/-
Putting the value in
proportion,

Difference between
selling prices : Cost Price :: Actual difference between selling prices :
Actual price

⇒ 36

**:**100**: :**1152**:**x**∴**

**x = (100 × 1152)/36 = 3200**

**9. E)**8 mobiles can be drawn out of 13 mobiles in

^{13}C

_{8}ways.

As given in the question
above that we are not supposed to draw any Iphone mobile.

**∴**We have to select 8 mobiles out of the remaining 9 mobile phones.

This can be done in

^{9}C_{8}ways = 9C8/13C8 = 9/1287 = 1/143**10. D)**Let my age 16 years ago be x years.

**∴**

**My grandfather's age 16 years ago = 9x years**

**∴**

**My present age = (x + 16)**

and my grand father's
present age = (9x + 16)

As per the second scenario,
8 years hence

(9x + 16 + 8) = 3(x + 16
+ 8)

⇒ 9x + 24
= 3x + 48 + 24

⇒ 9x + 24
= 3x + 72

or 6x = 48 ⇒ x = 8

Therefore, my age 8 years
ago = x + 8 = 16 and

My grandfather's age 8
years ago = 9x + 8 = 80

**∴**

**Reqd ratio = 16/80 = 1/5 = 1 : 5**

**11. C)**In 30 Litres of mixture milk and water are in the ratio=21:9

After adding water it
becomes=3:7

Therefore ,Milk remains
same in the mixture=21 litres

3x=21

x=7

Now after adding water
the water becomes 7x=7*7=49

Already there is 9 litres
of water therefore 40 litres of water is added

**12. A)**A’s Investment for 12 months=Rs.4000*12=48000

B’s Investment(Rs.6000
for 4 months and Rs.8000 for 8 months)=Rs.6000*4+Rs.8000*8=Rs.88000

C’Investment(Rs.8000 for
9 months and Rs.6000 for 3 months)=Rs.8000*9+Rs.6000*3=Rs.90000

Ratio of their
incomes=A:B:C

= 48000:88000:90000 = 48:88:90
= 24:44:45

A’s Profit=16950*24/113 =Rs.3600

**13. C)**Let the age of the daughter be x years

Then,the age of the
mother is (50-x) years

5 years ago

7(x-5)=50-x-5

8x=50-5+35=80

x=10

Therefore daughter age=10
years

mother’s age=40 years

**14. C)**Let the cost price be Rs.x

Now,according to the
question,

600-x=x-400

2x=1000

x=Rs.500

Again,selling price of
the article for making 25% profit

=500*125/100 =Rs.625

**15. D)**Total capacity=150

1st pipe takes 15 hrs to
empty a tank=150/15=10litres in 1 hour

2nd Pipe takes 10 hrs to
empty a tank=150/10=15 litres in 1 hour

If both the pipes are
opened simultaneously then they can fill 25 litres in 1 hour

Total capacity=150

Time taken=150/25=6 hours
