Solutions:
1. C) In 2014-15 profit available to share holders of Birla group is 15000 × 33 = Rs. 4,95,000
In, 2015-16, profit available to share holders = 31,000 × 23 = Rs. 7,13,000
Difference in 2014-15 to 2015-16 = 713000 – 495000 = 218000
% Change in profit = 218000/495000 × 100 = 44.04% ≈ 44%
2. A) As per the given information, we can clearly observe that the option A is correct.
3. B) Profit of Birla Group = ₹(10000 × 40)
Profit of Tata Group = ₹(25000 × 50)
Profit of Ambani Group = ₹(15000 × 40)
Tata Group has maximum profit available for shareholders.
4. B) EPS of Birla Group = 40
EPS of Tata Group = 50
Since profit available is same, the ratio of,
No. of shares of Birla Group : Tata Group = 50 : 40 (Inverse of EPS) = 5 : 4
So, no. of shares of Tata Group : BIrla Group = 4 : 5
5. B) No. of shares for Birla Group = 12,000
Earnings Per share for Birla Group in (2013-2014) = 46
Profit available for share holders = 46 × 12000 = 5,52,000
10% of profit available for share holders = 10% of 552000 = Rs. 55200
6. D) Total circulation of The Times of India in the five localities
= 20% of 5600 + 30% of 7800 + 40% of 7000 + 50% of 6400 + 20% of 5000
= 1120 + 2340 + 2800 + 3200 + 1000 = 10460
And total circulation of The Hindustan Times
= 40% of 5600 + (20 + 40)/2% of 7800 + 40% of 7000 + 20% of 6400 + 60% of 5000
= 2240 + (30/100) × 7800 + 2800 + 1280 + 3000 = 2240 + 2340 + 2800 + 1280 + 3000 = 11660
Required % = {(11660 - 10460)/11660} × 100 = {1200/11660} × 100 10%
7. E) Total circulation of The Hindu in the five localities = 40% of 5600 + 40% of 7800 + 20% of 7000 + 30% of 6400 + 20% of 5000
= 2240 + 3120 + 1400 + 1920 + 1000 = 9680
8. B) In locality D,
Current circulation of TOI = 50% of 6400 = 3200
After 20% increase, total circulation = 3200 + 20% of 3200 = 3840
Current circulation of The Hindu = 30% of 6400 = 1920
After 30% increase, total circulation = 1920 + 30% of 6400 = 2496
Current circulation of The Hindustan Times = 20% of 6400 = 1280
After 40% increase, total circulation = 1280 + 40% of 1280 = 1792
Total circulation of the three newspapers after an year = 3840 + 2496 + 1792 = 8128
9. B) Total circulation of The Times of India in C and D localities = 40% of 7000 + (40 + 60)/2% of 6400 = 2800 + 3200 = 6000
Total circulation of The Hindu in C and E localities = 20% of 7000 + 20% of 5000
= (20/100) × 7000 + (20/100) × 5000 = 1400 + 1000 = 2400
required ratio = 6000 : 2400 = 60 : 24 = 5 : 2
10. D) Circulation of Hindustan times in A and C = 40%
Number of peoples reading Hindustan times in A = (40/100) × 5600 = 2240
And number of peoples reading Hindustan times in C = (40/100) × 7000 = 2800
Circulation of Hindustan times in town B = (40 + 20)/2% of 7800 = (30/100) × 7800 = 2340
And Circulation of Hindustan times in town D = 20% of 6400 = (20/100) × 6400 = 1280
Circulation of Hindustan times in town E = 60% of 5000 = (60/100) × 5000 = 3000
Town A, B, C and E have circulation of more 1500.
11. C) Market share of MI in 2014-15 is 30% and Lava is 22% and these shares will remain so in 2015-16 as well.
Let the sale of Lava in 2015-16 be x
Now, 30% ≡ ₹ 198 crore
22% ≡ x
x = (198 × 22)/30 = Rs.145.2 cr
Hence, the sales of Lava in the year 2015-16 is 145.2 crores.
12. D) Sales of MI in 2015-16 is ₹ 198 crore.
According to the question,
Sales of Vivo in 2015-16 = 198/30 × 12 = Rs.79.2cr
Sales of Oppo in 2015 – 16 = 198/30 × 8 = Rs.52.8cr
Required difference = 79.2 – 52.8 = ₹ 26.4 crore
13. E) Market share of Samsung in the year 2015 – 16 = (28 × 130)/100 = 36.4%
Sales of Samsung in the year 2015 – 16 = (728 × 36.4)/100 = Rs.264.992 cr
14. C) Average sales of MI = (60.5 + 150 + 180 + 198 + 210)/5 = 159.7
Average sales of Vivo and Samsung in the year 2015-16 = [(28 + 12) of 198/30]/2 = [40 × (198/30)]/2 = (66 × 4)/2 = Rs.132 cr
Difference = ₹ (159.7 – 132) crore = ₹ 27.7 crore
15. B) Total sale of MI in the year 2016-17 = 210
And in the year 2012-13 = 60.5 crore
Reqd% = (210 – 60.5)/60.5 × 100 = 149.5/60.5 × 100 = 247.10 ≈ 247%
