Solutions:
1. C) 12 month’s salary = Rs.90 + Turban
Therefore 9 month’s salary = (Rs.90 + turban) * 9/12 = Rs.90 * ¾ + ¾ turban
= 135/2 + ¾ turban
Therefore Rs.135/2 + ¾
=> ¼ Turban = Rs.5/2 => Turban = 5/2 * 4 = Rs.10
2. D) Let the original fraction be x/y.
Then, ATQ, (x – 4)/(y + 1) = 1/6 => 6x – 24 = y + 1 => 6x – y = 25 …… (i)
Again, (x + 2)/(y + 1) = 1/3 => 3x + 6 = y + 1 => 3x – y = –5 …… (ii)
Subtract eq (ii) from eq (i) we get,
3x = 30 => x = 10 then y = 35
LCM of 10 and 35 = 70
3. D) Let the highest score be x.
Lowest score = x – 172
Then x + x – 172 = 40 * 50 – 38 * 48 => 2x – 172 = 2000 – 1824 = 176
=> x = (176 + 172)/2 = 174
4. B) Let the barrel contain 4 litres of mixture then Wine is 3 litres and Water is 1 litre
Let x litres mixture is taken out
=> Wine in (4 – x) litres mixture = ¾ (4 – x)
On adding x litres water, water in mixture = (4 – x) * ¼ + x = 1 – x/4 + x = (4 + 3x)/4
Therefore ¾ (4 – x) = (4 + 3x)/4 => 12 – 3x = 4 + 3x => 6x = 8 => x = 4/3
Therefore required answer = (4/3)/4 = 1/3
5. B) Let the number of book in shelf B be 100
Therefore No. of books in shelf A = 80
On transferring 25% i.e ¼ of books of shelf A to shelf A
B = 100 + 20 = 120
Again, on transferring ¼ of books of shelf B to shelf A
A = 60 + 120/4 = 90
Therefore Required Percentage = 90/180 * 100 = 50%

Now if loss is Rs.1/36, number of articles = 10
