Solutions:
1. D) Father's age was 28 years when my sister was born.
My sister's age was 4 years when my brother was born.
Therefore, father's age was 28+4 = 32 years when my brother was born.
2. D) 3. A) Speed downstream = (14 + 1.2) = 15.2 kmph
Speed upstream = (14 - 1.2) = 12.8 kmph
Total Time taken = 4864/15.2 + 4864/12.8 = 320 + 380 = 700 hours
4. E) M1H1D1/W1 = M2H2D2/W2
=> [(104 × 30 × 8)/(2/5)] = [(x × 26 × 9)/(3/5)] => 52 × 30 × 8 = x × 26 × 3 => x = 160
Number of additional persons required = 160 - 104 = 56
5. A) Suresh : Kiran = (20000 × 6 + 15000 × 6): (30000 × 4 + 50000 × 4) = 105 : 160 = 21 : 32
6. C) Let P = passed students and failed students = F. So
40*100 = 45*P + 35*F and
P + F = 100.
Solve for F and P, we will get P = 50.
7. B) A+B = 2
C = 1
W/(2+1) = 20/3
W = 20
A+B = 20/2 = 10
A = 2
B = 1
W/(2+1) = 10
W = 30
A = 30/2 = 15
8. C) F-5=(S-5)4+3
F=4S-12
F+3=3(S+3)-6
F=3S
3S=4S-12
S=12
F=36
Total=48
Remaining=90-48=42/2=21years
9. C) Vinith’s equivalent capital = (25000 × 3) + (10000 × 2) + (10000 × 1) = 105000
Krishna’s equivalent capital = 35000 ×2 = 70000
Gopal’s equivalent capital = 35000 × 1 = 35000
Vinith : Krishna : Gopal = 105 : 70 : 35 = 3 : 2 : 1
Krishna’s share in the total profit = 2*150000/6 = 50000
10. B) Assume that Jeeva started running at 10 a.m. and Vikash started at 12 noon.
So, in these two hours distance traveled by Jeeva is 80 km and the relative speed of Vikash w.r.t Jeeva is 20 km/hr.
So Vikash will overtake Jeeva after = 80/20 = 4 hours
So, Vikash reaches there at 4 p.m.
Gowtham also overtakes Jeeva at 4 p.m.
Assume Gowtham takes ‘t’ time to overtake
The relative speed of Gowtham w.r.t Jeeva is 40 km/hr and Jeeva ran for 6 hrs.(4+2 = 6hrs )
So, distance travelled by Jeeva is = 40 × 6 = 240 km
While distance travelled by Gowtham = 80t
240 = 80t t = 3
Hence, Gowtham start running 3 hours after Jeeva.
