Solutions:
5. A) The required percentage = (13% of 550)/(28% of 650) × 100 = 42% approx.
6. C) Let the required distance = x km
Time taken at 4kmph = x/4 hrs = x/4 × 60 min = 15x min
Time taken at 5kmph = x/5 hrs = x/5 × 60 min = 12x min
Since the difference between the two times taken is (5 + 4) = 9 minutes.
Therefore, 15x - 12x = 9 => 3x = 9 => x = 3
Hence the required distance is 3 km
7. E) Let the cost price of cow be Rs 100.
Then, Selling price of the cow at 10% profit = Rs 110
And selling price at 15% profit = Rs115
Difference in the selling prices = Rs (115 – 110) = Rs 5
Since, When difference in selling price is Rs 5, cost price is Rs 100.
When difference in selling price is Rs 40, cost price = 100/5 × 40 = Rs.800
8. B) List price = Rs 160,
The first discount = 10% and the selling price = Rs 122.40
Let the rate of second discount be x%.
Now, according to the question,
122.40 = 160 × [(100 – 10)/100] × [(100 – x)/100]
=> 122.40 = 160 × 90/100 × (100 – x)/100
=> 100 – x = 12240 × 100/(160 × 90) = 85
Therefore x = 15%
Hence the second discount is 15%
9. E) The person with draws Rs.110000
One year earlier the person had Rs.(110000 × 10/11) = 100000
Two years earlier the person had Rs.(100000 + 65000) × 10/11 = Rs.150000
At the time of opening the account, the person had Rs.(150000 + 125000) × 10/11 = Rs.250000
10. B) There are 4 vowels and 4 consonants in the word ORDINATE.
We have to arrange 8 letters in a row such that vowels occupy odd places.
There are 4 odd places 1, 3, 5 and 7.
Four vowels can be arranged in these 4 odd places in 4P4 = 4! ways.
Remaining 4 even places viz 2, 4, 6, 8 are to be occupied by the 4 consonants.
This can be done in 4P4 = 4! ways.
Hence the total number of words in which vowels occupy odd places = 4! × 4! = 576
11. C) 34225 + 21609 – 34225 = ? x 3
=> 55834 – 34225 = ? x 3 => 21609/3 = ? => ? = 7203
12. C) 46/7 + 41/14 × 35/55 = ? => 46/7 + 1435/770 = ? => ? = 6495/770 => ? = 8.4351
13. E) ½ × 1/36 × 28/34 × 1154 = ?
=> 0.5 x 0.0277 x 0.8235 x 1154 =?
=> ? = 13.1619
14. C) 369660 ÷ (4693 + ?) = 60
=> 369660/60 = 4692 + ?
=> 6161 – 4693=?
=> ? =1468
15. D) [ (52)3/2  + (52)-3/2  = ?
=> 53 + 5-3 = ?
=> 125 + 1/125 = ?
=> ? = 125.008
