Answers:
1)a   2)d   3)b   4)a   5)d   6)d   7)c   8)e   9)b   10)a
Solutions:
1. A)
Let the CP of a chair be P, then cost of a table = P + 175
=> 5P + 3(P + 175) = 3365 => 8P + 525 = 3365 => P = 355
Cost of two tables and two chairs = 2 x 355 + 2 x 530 = 710 + 1060 = 1770
2. D)
Let the Present ages of Akhil, Anil and Amith be 3n, 4n and 5n respectively
(3n + 4n + 5n)/3 = 28 => 4n = 28
Hence their respective ages are 21, 28 and 35 years respectively
After 5 years, Akhil will be 26 and Amith 33
Hence sum = 59 years
3. B)
Area of circle = 22/7 x 14 x 14 = 616 sq cm
Hence the area of rectangle = 1166 – 616 = 550 sq cm
Breadth of rectangle = 550/25 = 22 cm
Circumference of the circle = 22/7 x 28 = 88 cm
Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(22 + 25) = 94 cm
Sum = 88 + 94 = 182cm
4. A)
Let the maximum marks be 100a
Sanjay’s score = 54a = 456 – 24 = 432 => a = 8
Passing marks = 34 x 8 = 272
Raju score 456 – 272 = 184 marks more than the passing marks.
5. D)
Speed of the train = 120 x 5/18 = 100/3 m/s
Distance covered by train in 24 seconds = 24 x 100/3 = 800m
Length of the platform = 800 – 320 = 480m
The man’s speed = 480/240 = 2m/s
6. D)
7200 = P x 12 x 6/100 => P = Rs.10000
CI = 10000 x 1.05 x 1.05 – 10000 = 1025
7. C)
Let the eight consecutive odd numbers be a – 7, a – 5, a – 3, a – 1, a+1, a + 3, a + 5 and a + 7 and the four consecutive even numbers be b – 3, b – 1, b + 1 and b + 3.
=> 8a = 656 => a = 82
Smallest number = 82 – 7 = 75
Also (b – 3 + b – 1 + b + 1 + b + 3)/4 = 87 => b = 87
Second largest number = 87 + 1 = 88
Required sum = 75 + 88 = 163
8. E)
First SP = 10800 x 0.95 = 10260
Second SP = 10260 x 1.05 = 10773
Loss = 10800 – 10773 = Rs.27
9. B)
Speed of car = 720/9 = 80 kmph
Speed of bus = ¾ x 80 = 60 kmph
Speed train = 60 x 27/15 = 108 kmph
Distance covered in 7 hours = 108 x 7 = 756 km
10. A)
A is able to finish the work in 12 days hence in one day he will do 1/12 unit of work.
Since, B’s efficiency is 50% more than that of A hence B will do 50% more work than A in one day
So work done by B in one day = (3/2) x (1/12) = 1/8
Similarly work done by C in one day = (1/2) x (1/12) = 1/24
So, total work done by (A + B + C) in one day = 1/12 + 1/8 + 1/24 = ¼
So A, B and C together will finish the work in 4 days.
