1) The 2016 North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has started at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland from July 8. In the 2-day summit, the leaders of the 28 NATO Allies and many partner nations will deliberate and take decisions to increase the alliance’s security by strengthening its deterrence and defense and projecting stability beyond its borders, 

2) The 2016 INNOPROM is the largest annual international industrial trade fair of Russia, which will be started on July 10, 2016 in Ekaterinburg. India is the partner country for INNOPROM 2016.

3) India has recently signed three Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mozambique in areas of drug trafficking, pulse trading and sports.The excerpts of MoUs are on reduction of drug trafficking and psychotropic substances and related materials, cooperation in the field of youth affairs and sports and long term agreement for purchase of pulses. In it, Mozambique will focus on the production of tur daal (Pigeon Peas) to facilitate the long term trade goals with India.

4) The National E-Vidhan Academy will be set up in Tapovan, where Himachal Vidhan Sabha is situated in Dharamshala. The academy in Dharamsala will train MPs, MLAs and the staff of such institutions from different states in the country.

5) The 7th edition of Mountain Echoes literary festival 2016 will be held in Thimpu, Bhutan on August 26 to 28, 2016. It is an initiative of India-Bhutan Foundation in association with Siyahi, a literary organization.

6) Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton from England has won the 2016 Formulae One British Grand Prix championship in Silverstone, United Kingdom. It is his 4th title of the 2016 season after Monaco Grand Prix, Canadian Grand Prix, and Austrian Grand Prix.

7) The Haryana Government has decided to introduce online filing of Performance Appraisal Report (PAR) through Smart Performance Appraisal Report Recording Online Window (SPARROW) for all its IPS officers from the assessment year 2015-16. The government has also notified the instructions for writing of their PAR which will be recorded online at http://ips.gov.in by December 31, 2016.

8) Jagat Prakash Nadda, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, has recently launched nationwide “Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF)” in New Delhi on July 11, which will be continue till July 23, 2016. The purpose of the IDCF is to curb the risk of diarrhoea which scales up during monsoon season.

9) Dharambir Singh has recently book his berth in 2016 Rio Olympics by clocking 20.45 seconds in Men’s 200 meters race at the Indian Grand Prix in Bengaluru and become the first Indian to qualify in the sprint event after Perumal Subramaniam in the 1980 Moscow games. Apart from him, Jinson Johnson from Kerala has also qualified for the 2016 Rio in the 800m race after clocking a time of 1:45.98 seconds.

10) An independent base of Marine Commandos (MARCOS) “INS Karna” has been commissioned by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba at Bheemunipatanam Naval Base in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Captain Varun Singh will be the Commanding Officer of INS Karna.

11) The world’s first Snoopy Museum has opened at Roppongi in Tokyo, Japan. It is organized by Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center and is dedicated to the cartoon beagle.

12) The 2016 Hemis festival will be held at the Hemis Monastery in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) from July 14, 2016 to celebrate the birthday of Lord Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), who is believed to be the local savior who banished demons and evil spirits.

13) K V R Murthy has been appointed as the new Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Jute Corporation of India Ltd. (JCI). His appointment is for a period of 5 years or till the date of his superannuation. Prior of this appointment, he was the Chief Commercial Manager of Eastern Railways.

14) Theresa May, the leader of the Conservative Party, is the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK). She succeeded David Cameron, who resigned after the outcome of the European Union membership referendum. She is the 2nd female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after Margaret Thatcher.

15) The Republic of Peru has recently declared a Zika health emergency across the northern half of the country after 102 people were infected with the virus. The 90-day health emergency was declared to prevent the spread of the disease, which is principally transmitted by daytime-active mosquitoes. Over 100 cases of Zika have been reported in Peru, more than 30 of the infected are pregnant women.
