Solutions:
1. D) Perimeter of square = 439/9 = 48m
Side of square = 48/4 = 12m
The cost of total tiling = (12 × 12) × 20 sq.m = Rs.2800
2. E) Scooter takes 30/30hrs to cover distance of 30km.
Therefore required distance = 42 × 30/36 km = 35km
3. D) Let the No.of girls in the school = x and No.of boys = y
Therefore 7x/8 = 259 – 125 => 7x = 134 × 8
Therefore x= 153
Same as 6y/11 = 125 => 6y = 11 × 125
Therefore y = 229
Therefore required distance = 229 – 153 = 76
4. B) Let the third pipe alone can empty the cistern in x minutes.
Then, 1/60 + 1/75 – 1/x = 1/50 => 1/x = 1/60 + 1/5 – 1/50 = (5 + 4 – 6)/300 = 1/100
Therefore x = 100 minutes
5. C) 16 men can do the work in = 24 × 18/16 = 27 days
24 women do the same work in = 30 × 12/24 = 15 days
Therefore required days = [(27 × 15)/(27 + 15)] days = 135/14 = 9 9/14 days
6. D) Simple interest after one year = 200000 × 12 × 1/100 = Rs.24000
Required simple intrest after completion of two years = [200000 + 24000 + 500] × 13 × 1/100 = 2245 × 13 = Rs.29185
7. A) Let the length of rectangular field is l.
(90 × l) × ¼ = 2700 => 90 × l = 2700 × 4
Therefore l = 30 × 4 = 120 m
Therefore, required ratio = 90:120 = 3:4
8. A) Let the total profit of the year is x.
84x/(84 + 156 + 132) = 1960 => 84x = 1960 × 372
Therefore x = Rs.(1960 × 372)/84 = Rs.8680
Therefore, required difference = 156 × 8680/372 – 132 × 8680/372 = 8680/372 × 24 = Rs.560
9. C) Let the total inverstment be x
x/(3 + 5 + 6) x 5 = 75000
or x/14 = 75000/5
x = 14 x 15000 = 21000
10. A) Population = 400000 x 115/100 x 115/100 x 115/100 = 608350
